dedicated interest groups represent the 6 movements

The culture wars ignited in 1994 when these interest groups - or their predecessors - pledged loyalty to one party… and boycotted the other.

versus

The boycotts were a new, activist-driven strategy over the issue of “states’ rights”.

This reversed a two-hundred year tradition of two-party lobbying by protest movements, used by the likes of Susan B. Anthony, MLK, and Harvey Milk.
